What this is, and is not. These are shop estimating figures — geometric volume and plate weight from your dimensions. They do not include weld metal, stiffeners or internals, and they are not a design calculation. Wall thickness for a pressure part must come from ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 or IS 2825 against your actual design pressure and temperature. Send us the duty and we will do that properly.
The formulas behind the numbers
Nothing hidden — here is exactly what the calculator does, so you can check it against your own estimate.
Shell volume
π/4 × D² × L, on the inside diameter and tangent-to-tangent length.
End volume
Torispherical ends use the 0.0847 × D³ shop approximation; 2:1 ellipsoidal uses π × D³ / 24.
Plate area
Shell is π × D × L. Dished ends need a bigger blank, so 1.1 × D (torispherical) or 1.15 × D (ellipsoidal) is allowed.
Weight
Area × thickness × material density — 7850 kg/m³ for MS, 7930 for SS 304, 8000 for SS 316, 7800 for duplex.
Common questions
Do you fabricate to our drawings, or do you design as well?
Both. Send us a finished drawing and we will fabricate to it, or give us the duty, capacity and site conditions and we will prepare the design and general arrangement drawing for your approval before we cut any steel.
Are your pressure vessels IBR approved?
Yes. We carry out IBR-approved pressure vessel fabrication, with design referenced to ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 and IS 2825, and we supply the supporting test documentation with every vessel.
What materials do you work with?
Mild steel to IS 2062, stainless steel in SS 304 and SS 316, and duplex stainless where chloride or stress-corrosion resistance is needed. The right choice depends on your process fluid, temperature and hygiene requirement — we are happy to advise.
Do you handle one-off jobs, or only bulk orders?
Both. We take on single custom fabrications and prototypes as readily as repeat batch production.
